Rainer W. Schlegelmilch. Porsche Racing Moments. Collector’s Edition.

25 years of Porsche racing cars through the lens of Rainer W. Schlegelmilch

In 1962, Rainer W. Schlegelmilch took part in the race track for the first time – the 1,000 km at the Nürburgring. A lifelong passion for Porsche and racing was ignited and still burns today.

This captivating book begins in 1963 and invites you to another time and another world with breathtaking images. It is a journey through the history of Porsche endurance racing, from Le Mans to the Targa Florio and Spa Francorchamps to Monza. Schlegelmilch tells incredible stories from the race track in his own words.

In this volume, the cars are the heroes – page by page he documents his deep admiration for the vehicles and their legendary design. From the purpose-built prototypes from the 1960s – the 550, 718, RS and RSK models – to the powerful 907 and 908 to probably the most iconic racing cars of all time, the 917, the 962 and of course the timeless Porsche 911. This is Schlegelmilch’s pictorial declaration of love to Porsche design.

He pays tribute to each individual vehicle, not least with his unique zoom technology, and captures the tremendous speed of the racing cars in hypnotizing images. Thanks to this technique, he was also called the Zoom Master. Whether in black and white or in color – it’s as if you can feel the pull of the cars speeding by.

This book is for real Porsche lovers, but it’s about more than just cars. From the shots of nervous teams to the racing drivers deep in conversation, from the oily hands of the mechanics working under the hood to the cracked race track – Schlegelmilch takes you into the real world of motorsport: behind the glamor and into the dusty , gasoline-smelling universe of racing.
